My Approach
MY APPROACH
I believe DEI shouldn’t be a checkbox - it should be the foundation of how your business operates. My approach is built on the belief that real change happens when we root our work in historical context, center equity in every policy, and sustain liberation through intentional community. That’s why I developed the R.E.A.L. Framework: a step-by-step approach that helps small business owners and founders shift from performative DEI efforts to systemic, sustainable impact.
What is the R.E.AL. Framework?
The R.E.A.L. Framework is a proprietary, results-driven approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) that acknowledges the deep-rooted connections between systemic oppression, white supremacy, and capitalism. Unlike traditional DEI initiatives, which often focus on intent over impact, the R.E.A.L. Framework is designed to create sustainable, measurable change by addressing the root causes of workplace inequity.
Recognize the Reality
The first step to creating real change is recognizing how systems of power—white supremacy, patriarchy, and capitalism—show up in your business. This phase is about honest self-education and building shared language.
Evaluate the Environment
Once you understand the systems, it’s time to look inward. This step involves evaluating your workplace culture, leadership dynamics, and how your current systems are impacting your people.
Align with Action
Recognizing inequities and evaluating your culture isn’t enough—you need to align your values with action.
Leverage for Liberation
The goal isn’t diversity metrics—it’s liberation. This phase is about continued practice, collaboration, and shared learning.
